Summer Acting Intensive 2017

What is the Intensive?
Actors Training Ground is the first acting studio in the Raleigh area to offer full length acting intensives. It was first introduced in the summer of 2016. The 2017 Summer Acting Intensive spans nine weeks (Jun. 12th - Aug. 20th), meeting on Mondays and Thursdays from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm. and Saturdays and Sundays from 1 pm - 6 pm, ending with a production.

How can I be involved in the Intensive?
There are four ways you can be involved with the Intensive:

1. Full Participant (Acting) - Register for the entire Intensive which includes all classes and the production.
2. Full Participant (Tech) - Register for the Intensive as a tech position which includes all classes but work as a Stage Manager or tech crew* for the production.
3. Partial Participant - Register for the Intensive which includes all classes** but choose not to be part of the production.
4. Individual Master Classes - Register for individual Master Classes only. Click here to be taken to the Master Class page. This contains information on cost and times.

*Before registering for option 2, please contact Actors Training Ground to see which positions are available since tech spots are limited.
**If you choose option 3, the only class you will not be able to take is the Acting for Camera: Film since we are filming a scene from the production for that class.

What does the Intensive include?
As a Full or Partial Participant in the Intensive you will be able to attend all Master Classes in the Summer series as well as be able to attend the "Working with an Agent" panel with Anne Greene of Talent One, receive a 20 minute headshot session and receive one headshot from Lilia Monteiro ($150 value), be part of the Director's Panel featuring directors in the Raleigh area, and be part of the Movement for Actor class.

What is the cost?
The cost of the entire Intensive is $700. This covers all classes and being part of the production. That breaks down to $90 for each Master class including the unique opportunity to sit down with an agent and gets the ins and outs of working with an agent, and receive a headshot session and headshot valued at $150. Master classes taken individually are $125 each. That plus the headshot session would equal $900. By being a full or partial participant you save $200.

What classes are offered in the Intensive?

With every Intensive we try to change up the classes being offered. This allows students to repeat Intensives without taken the exact same classes every time. We are finalizing the classes for the summer but have most lined up. Below is what we are currently offering for the summer.

What is the production?
Because of the nature of the Intensive, we can't know the class dynamic and therefore, the production is chosen after everyone has registered so a script can be picked. The rehearsal process is a combination of a class-like environment but also treated like a professional community theatre production.

Please note: Classes marked with an *** are exclusive to Full and Partial Participants registered in the Intensive. Not available as a Master Class.

Due to the intensity of the curriculum, the Acting Intensive Program is open to actors who understand the principles behind acting. It is not for those who are looking to explore it for the first time and/or have no experience in acting.

During the 9 weeks, students will be exposed to classes with a conservatory-like schedule during the week and rehearse a production on the weekends. The tech nights and performances will happen on the last week of classes during the regular scheduled times, except for the Saturday night performance which will be at 8.00 p.m.

Below is the tentative schedule of classes and rehearsals for the Summer 2017 Intensive.
